Carolyn Mae Gustafson (nee Waldorf), age 98, died in her home in Denver, CO on October 21, 2025. She was a Denver native, graduate of East High School, and graduate of Bethany Lutheran College. At Bethany, she met the love of her life, John “Gus" Gustafson. They were married from 1948 until his death in 2012 (63 years). She was the loving mother to her daughter Judy, loving grandmother to grandchildren Ingrid, Michelle, Eric, and Stephen, and loving great-grandmother to Sadie and Chris.
Carolyn enjoyed international travel with Gus to European and Scandinavian countries. They especially loved England. She enjoyed murder mysteries, particularly British cozy mysteries. Carolyn was a long-time member of the Park Hill Art Club and specialized in watercolors. She enjoyed good food and pastries, and the company of family and good friends.
Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, aunts, husband Gus, brother Doug, and many dear friends. She is survived by her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Burial services will take place at Fairmount Cemetery on Thursday, November 13 at 2 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at Augustana Lutheran Church at 3 pm with a cookie reception after. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Augustana.
