Carolyn Ann Hellyar

Carolyn A. Hellyar, age 76, of Avon Lake, Ohio passed away Monday, March 3, 2025 in the company of her loved ones. She was born February 24, 1949 in Springfield, Massachusetts to parents Harry and Phyllis (nee Bowers) Keating.
Carol spent her early years in Palmer, Massachusetts and Texas City, Texas before the family settled in St. Louis, Missouri, where she graduated high school and attended college. Carol met her husband Michael Hellyar through their sisters who were classmates and friends, they were wed in St. Louis on June 14, 1969. The two began raising a family in St. Louis followed by a brief settling in Milwaukee, before landing in Avon Lake in 1996, where they have made their home for the last 29 years. Carol was a dedicated wife and mom, she loved raising and teaching her sons, and despite having five boys she never missed a sporting event they participated in. She later worked at the Cleveland Foundation, where she found great joy processing grants and scholarships for area students. She was an active member of the Women's Club, and enjoyed music and dancing, sailing on Lake Erie with Mike, and travelling, especially to see her grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years Michael Hellyar, Sr.; loving sons Stephen (Candice), Mark, Matthew (June), Michael Jr., and Sean (Annie) Hellyar; cherished grandchildren Chayce, Ayla, Austin, Westin, Lucia, Matilda, and Oliver; and dear sisters Joyce Evans (Carl), and Gale Blair (Steve). She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Steve Keating.
