Ed Dunfee Obituary

Visit the Busch Funeral and Crematory Services - Avon Lake website to view the full obituary.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edwin Lee Dunfee, a cherished husband, devoted father, and beloved grandfather, who left this world on February 18, 2026, after a short illness. He was born on July 24, 1933, in Willow Wood, Ohio, and lived a life rich with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

Ed graduated from Windsor High School in 1950, embarking soon after on a journey that would include service in the United States Army, where he proudly represented his country. Ed found his calling in the HVAC industry, dedicating many years of hard work as a foreman, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Edwin was a man of passion and interests. He found solace in the serene waters while fishing, embraced the thrill of shooting sports, and enjoyed the treasure hunts at flea markets and garage sales. His warm, friendly smile and unwavering spirit touched everyone he met, whether visiting with neighbors from his favorite spot on the front porch, or sharing tales with fellow members of the Amherst Sportsman Club and the Avon Lake Boat Club. Ed was a man of great character, over the years he served his community as a volunteer firefighter fighter, and was a proud Mason with membership in the Avon Lake Masonic Temple.

Ed adored his family, and his beloved wife, Beulah "Boots" Dunfee, who preceded him in death after 50 years of marriage, remained a guiding light in his life. Together, they built a legacy of love and support for their four daughters: Bonnie Dunfee (Mary Joiner), Becky Dunfee (Angie Thorne), Amy Kimmel (John), and Peggy Dunfee (Kurt Kline). Edwin's bond with them and their families deepened his joy, especially as he embraced his roles as a grandfather to Jordan Novotny (Maggie McCool) and Julia Kimmel.

Edwin was also a loving uncle to Heidi Edwards and is survived by countless friends and family who will forever hold his memory dear. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Helen Dunfee, and his brothers, Fred and Roger Dunfee.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in honor of Edwin to one of the following charities: New Life Hospice of Lorain: https://compassuslivingfoundation.; Walleye For Wounded Heros: https://w4wh.com/donate/; The Wounded Warrior Project: https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/

A celebration of his life will be held at Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon Belden Rd. Avon Lake, 44012, on Friday, February 27. A public visitation starts at 10:30 am, with a service at 12:30 pm. Private interment to follow at Resthaven.

In this time of sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that the heart of Edwin Lee Dunfee will continue to shine brightly in the lives he touched and the love he shared. Rest in peace, dear Ed. You will be missed deeply, but the legacy of kindness and spirited joy will live on through your family and friends.
