Carolyn Rose (Kanngiesser) Kimminau, was born January 23, 1940, in Nashville, KS. She was the youngest of eight children. Her father, Edward Kanngiesser, died in April 1942, when Carolyn was only two years old, leaving her mother, Leona (Miller) Kanngiesser, to raise eight children on the farm.
As a young child, the family moved to Zenda, KS. While in grade school, Carolyn excelled in academics and sports. At the age of 13, she began working as a switchboard operator, which she continued throughout high school. After graduating in 1958, Carolyn went to work for the Department of Agriculture office in Kingman and Wichita. While working in Wichita, she began dating Raymond Kimminau. They were married on October 2, 1965, and moved to Topeka, KS. To this union were born two children: Stephanie Ann, born in Las Vegas, NM., and Curt Allen, born in Paola, KS.
In 1971, the family moved to Adrian, MO, where Carolyn worked at the Adrian Bank for 24 years. Carolyn enjoyed gardening, volunteering at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Hospice, sewing, playing games, doing puzzles, and participating in Book Club and the Red Hat Society.
Her grandchildren brought her great joy, and she loved to host sleepovers, play games, and make homemade chicken noodle soup for them. She was described by many as a kind, sweet, and humble lady who often surprised others with her humorous remarks and witty comebacks.
Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband, Raymond of Adrian; daughter Stephanie (Greg) Dustman of Pleasant Hill, MO.; son Curt (Tracie) of Adrian, MO.; grandchildren Caitlin (Tyler) Ryser of Adrian, Hannah (Peter) Ingles of Overland Park, KS., Colton Kimminau of Adrian; Rachel (Ryan) Carpenter of Centerville, UT., and Crosby Kimminau of Adrian; great-granddaughters Heidi and Demi Ryser of Adrian; sister Helen Vierthaler of Kingman, KS., brother Edward (Janice) Kanngiesser of Spivey, KS., brother Lawerence (Joan) Kanngiesser of Wichita, KS., and sister Mary Bayer of Great Bend, KS., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Catherine Blasi, Joyce Vierthaler, and Ruth Mantooth.
