Carolyn L. Snyder, 85, of Reynolds, passed away at 11:23 pm, Sunday, October 29, 2023 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
She was born on August 28, 1938 in Earl Park, Indiana to the late Harry and Isabelle (Hardebeck) Bessler. On July 23, 1960 she married Tonie Snyder in Three Oaks, Michigan. He survives.
She was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic church in Reynolds where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a 1956 graduate of Chalmers High School and Lafayette Beauty Academy. She was primarily a homemaker. She worked for a few years as a beautician and as an attendant at Hoovers gas station formerly in Reynolds.
She enjoyed ceramics and was a skilled painter. She was an excellent cook and was known for her tea rings. Thanksgiving and Christmas were special holidays to her as it was an opportunity to bring her cherished family together. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her most memorable trips was to Gulf Shores where she was able to get in the water, in a rented special made wheelchair, and have a family photo taken.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Tonie are two sons, Todd (Michelle) Snyder of Reynolds, Kirk (Jill) Snyder of Roachdale; seven grandchildren, Breanne Snyder, Shayla (Joseph) Broussard, Cody (Amy) Snyder, Cole (Mallory) Snyder, Quade (Samantha) Snyder, Gage Snyder, Alex Williams; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Abram, Silas, Deacon, Hutchinson, Delia, Bowen, Angelina, Aaiden and great-grandson, Hank on the way; brother-in-law, Bob Poindexter; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Snyder Williams; and sister, Beverly Poindexter.
Visitation will be Friday, November 3, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Reynolds from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1pm, immediately following the visitation on Friday, November 3, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds with Father Dan Duff the celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Reynolds.
Memorial contributions are encouraged to the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds, or an animal shelter of the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the church.
