Graveside services for Mrs. Carolyn Sue Mitchell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Blue Branch Cemetery, Pitkin, with Reverend Anthony Eaves officiating, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Mitchell, 80, of Pitkin, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She dedicated many years of service as a cook in several Vernon Parish schools, where her hard work and warm spirit touched many lives. She found great joy in simple pleasures such as cutting grass, working in her yard, and especially in cooking, which brought happiness to those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Almond and Oleta McDonald; and four sisters, Doris Cartwright, Donna Jean Maricle, Alva Lee Perkins, and Shirley Ann Dauzat.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Clifton Mitchell, Jr. of Pitkin; one son, Chris Mitchell of Leesville; one brother, Jimmy McDonald (Margie) of Pitkin; two grandsons, Conner Mitchell of Baton Rouge, and Justin McCann (Nicole) of England; two great grandsons, Eli McCann and Liam McCann; one great granddaughter, Azalea McCann; and two special nieces, Melissa Thetford (Josh) and Gaynelle Thompson.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Conner Mitchell, Cody Lefort, Justin Odom, Allan Dauzat, Donnie Perkins, and Josh Thetford.
