Carolyn Claire (White) Norton, known lovingly to family and friends as Carolyn, passed away quietly at home on March 28, 2026, in
Mystic, Connecticut, at the age of 82. She was born on August 1, 1943, in
New London, Connecticut, and grew up in West
Mystic, CT. She lived a life marked by faith, devotion, compassion, and steadfast love for those entrusted to her care.
Carolyn was a woman of deep Christian faith. A member of the Church of Jesus of Latter-Day Saints. Her life reflected the quiet strength and grace that came from walking closely with the Lord. She carried herself with dignity and kindness, and she touched the lives of many through her gentle spirit and her sincere concern for others. Her faith was not only something she professed, but something she lived each day in the way she loved her family, served her patients, and met the world with patience and humility.
A proud graduate of Fitch High School, Class of 1961, Carolyn continued her education with determination and purpose, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Central Connecticut State University. She answered a call to care for others and devoted her professional life to nursing, serving as a Critical Care Nurse at Backus Hospital. In that demanding and compassionate role, she brought skill, calmness, and reassurance to patients and families during some of life's most difficult moments. Her work was a true ministry of service, and she was respected for her dedication, her professionalism, and her tender heart.
Carolyn's greatest joy was her family, and she cherished her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her beloved husband, Patrick R. Norton; her three daughters and son: Lacey Irons and her husband Greg Irons; Jennifer Bingell and her husband David Bingell; Cheryl Dudley; and by her son, Barry McGee. She also leaves behind a treasured legacy in her grandchildren, Avery Kosma, Molly Kosma, Chase Linski, Kade Burns, Helvi Bingell, Emma Dudley, Simon Dudley, Christopher McGee, and Sean McGee, as well as her great-grandchildren, Christopher and Lilliana. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she found great happiness in the bonds they shared and the memories they created together.
Those who knew Carolyn will remember her for her warmth, her steady presence, and her ability to make others feel cared for and valued. She was gracious in spirit and sincere in her love, and she carried herself with the kind of quiet faith that leaves a lasting impression. Her life was grounded in Christian values, and she trusted in God's promises with a humble and faithful heart. Even in times of challenge, she remained a source of comfort and strength to those around her.
Carolyn also enjoyed travel, and she found joy in seeing new places and experiencing the beauty of God's world. Whether near home or far away, she embraced life with appreciation and curiosity. Her travels, like the rest of her life, were enriched by the relationships she nurtured and the memories she made along the way.
Though her earthly journey has come to an end, Carolyn's legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be remembered with deep affection and gratitude, and her family takes comfort in the hope of eternal life as a family through Jesus Christ. May she rest in the peace of her Savior, and may her loved ones be sustained by the promise of God's everlasting care.
