Carolyn Padgham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith-Gallo Funeral Home - Guthrie on Aug. 8, 2025.
Carolyn Sue Padgham, age 81, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025.

She was born on July 28, 1944, in Kahoka, Missouri, to Milton J. and Mary E. Shoup. Carolyn grew up in a loving home and graduated from Longmont High School in Longmont, Colorado, in 1962. On June 27, 1964, she married the love of her life, Gerald L. Padgham, in Longmont. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and service.

Carolyn dedicated many years to the Guthrie Public School cafeteria system, where she worked until her retirement. Known for her generous spirit and warm heart, she spent much of her time feeding others - both at work and at home - and never hesitated to open her door or her kitchen to anyone in need.

She was a devoted mother to three sons: Wesley J. (deceased), Jason L. of Piedmont, Oklahoma, and Brian A. of Guthrie, Oklahoma. Carolyn was also a proud and loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren, and she cherished her role as "Grandma" deeply. She had a special bond with each of them and loved baking cookies, watching Disney movies, and working on puzzles with them. Her home was a place of joy, play, and comfort.

Carolyn is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth A. Meis of Lakewood, Colorado, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald, her oldest son Wesley, and her three brothers.

A woman of strong faith, Carolyn was a charter member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Guthrie, where she faithfully taught Sunday school for many years. She also enjoyed volunteering wherever she was needed and found joy in simple pleasures - growing and canning her own food, completing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, and sharing homemade meals with others.

Carolyn's legacy is one of love, service, and quiet strength. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her nurturing heart, and the countless lives she touched.

Funeral services for Carolyn will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Smith Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Seward Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 North 1st Street, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, 3:30 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.
