Sunrise: July 22, 1945 - Sunset: October 20, 2025
Carolyn Juanita Frye Whitehead Pierce passed peacefully on October 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Raised in Carter County, Tennessee, Carol attended Happy Valley High School and spent her life bringing joy to others through her work in the hospitality industry, most notably at Johnson City Country Club.
Carol was the life of every party - full of love, laughter, and her unforgettable smile. She had a gift for turning the ordinary into something beautiful, whether through her creative touch, her knack for collecting treasures, or her ability to make the old new again. She cherished beach trips, shopping adventures, and time spent with those she loved most.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Lum and Margaret Frye; her sister, Wanda Maxine Roper; her son, Johnny Dewayne Whitehead; and her grandson, Nathan Lum Whitehead.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jacqueline Whitehead Clark (Richard) of Kingsport, TN, and Brian Pierce (April) of Elizabethton, TN; her sisters, Linda Frye Sells (Tom) of Jonesborough, TN, Leitha Frye of Johnson City, TN, and Joann Frye Moffitt (Mark) of Johnson City, TN; her grandchildren, Josh, Justin, and Nicholas Whitehead; Heath (Olivia) Casper, Trevor Casper (Dusty); Abbigail (Adam), Amillia, Bryceon, and Brodyn Pierce; Ryan Sweeney (Hannah), and Aaron Clark (Challis); and many great-grandchildren: Malachi, Deacon, Oliver, Hayden, Lewis, Arlo, Oliver, Laney, and Alice. She also leaves behind several special nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own children.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Amedisys Hospice Care for their compassionate support and care during Carol's final days.
Her legacy is one of warmth, creativity, and joy. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
