Obituary of Carolyn "Kathy" Lunsford Rhineheimer
Carolyn "Kathy" Lunsford Rhineheimer
5/13/1954- 7/14/2022
Kathy was a patient and loving wife, mom, "Grandma" and "Mammaw", sister, aunt, friend, and so much more to so many. She passed on from this world on July 14, 2022 in Lexington, KY, at age 68.
She was born in Jamestown, KY to Eugene and Floy McKinley Lunsford. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 40 years, Larry McConnall Rhineheimer who she missed dearly; four brothers, Buddy, Jimmy, Billy, and Lee Roy Lunsford; and two sisters, Jo Lynn Sowers and Darlene Jones.
Kathy was a tax preparer for over 40 years and she thoroughly enjoyed helping others, working tirelessly to help them in any way she could. She was not always the most punctual person around, so much so that her family and friends created a new time zone for her, called "Rhineheimer Time". It may have been a longer wait in that time zone, but if you knew her at all, you knew she was well worth the wait. She could talk to anyone for hours and had a special way of finding the bright spots in life. She was easy-going, kind, and always present when spending time with loved ones. She loved "visiting" with her family and that could've been anything from playing cards or dancing, to doing dishes; she always found joy in the simplest things. She especially loved popcorn and movies at home with her grandkids or taking them shopping any chance she got. "Life is what you make it" is something she'd often say, and wow, what a loving life she made.
Kathy will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her two sons Larry (Terry) Rhineheimer of Lakewood, CO and Derek Rhineheimer of Lexington, KY; her daughter Jessica (Sam) Collins of Lexington, KY; three grandchildren, Maddy and Mason Rhineheimer and Norah Collins; two sisters, Mary Jane Gustin of New Port Richey, FL and Dottie (John) Rose of Nicholasville, KY; three brothers, Charlie (Sharon) Lunsford of Noblesville, IN; Tommy (Brenda) Lunsford of Hartford, KY and Kenny (Liz) Lunsford of Cromwell, KY; many nieces, nephews, and friends old and new.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be announced at a future date. The family appreciates your prayers, love, and support during this difficult time.
