Carolyn Alice Rutan, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday evening, June 26,
2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren, surrounded by her loving family.
Carolyn was born on February 28, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Twinsburg
High School and later attended Heidelberg University.
A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Carolyn cherished time with her
family-especially her grandchildren. Her life was a testament to dedication and service. For
over 50 years, she volunteered as a leader with both the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl
Scouts, guiding countless young lives with kindness and wisdom.
Carolyn loved the outdoors, particularly camping trips filled with campfire songs and laughter.
She was also an avid doll collector and a devoted Cleveland Browns fan, always cheering on her
team.
She is survived by her three children, Corianne Bayless Mays of Niles, Brian J. Bayless of
Warren, and Alicia Bayless of Bedford Heights; eight beloved grandchildren, Azura Bayless,
Justice Bayless, Kerianne Bayless, Audrey Mays, Adam Bayless, Alea Bayless, Scott Dowell,
and David Mays; and three great-grandchildren, Khloe, Valentino and Ni'ayah.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Barbara Oliver and Dottie Oliver.
In accordance with Carolyn's wishes, a private service for the family will be held at a later date.
