Carolyn Scott affectionately known as "Baby Hen", was born on July 14, 1942, to Carl Allen Newsome and Irene Williams Newsome in Dallas, Texas.
At an early age Carolyn committed her life to Christ and joined the Kirkwood Temple CME Church in Dallas TX where she participated in the choir and the Christian Youth/Young Adult Fellowship.
Carolyn was educated in Dallas ISD and graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of '60. She enrolled at Prairie View A & M University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in history. After graduating she worked at different jobs. In 1970, she started teaching in Houston ISD as a Social Studies/Special Education Teacher at Terrell Middle School. In 2010, Carolyn retired from Waller ISD and spent her time reading books, watching movies, baking and spending time with her family.
In 1961, Carolyn met Elmer Scott at Prairie View A&M University and they married on September 10, 1966. Two children Latresa and Carl Scott were born to this blissful union.
Proceeding her in death were her parents Carl and Irene Newsome and sister Von Ruth Newsome.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Elmer Scott and children Latresa Scott and Carl Scott of Houston, Texas; sisters Susan McGruder and Saundra White of McKinney, Texas and Janice Crayton (Bobby) of Cedar Hill, Texas. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends to cherish her amazing memory. She left a legacy of love and was a ray of sunshine to all who met her.
