Daughter of George Pink Barker & Malissia Catherine Barker (White), Born March 27, 1948; in Brookhaven Mississippi. Carolyn is survived by her daughter Kimberly (Roger) VanOrder of Jackson, MI; Sister's Vivian Pace of Crystal Springs, MS; & Georgia (Tito) Cruz of San Diego, CA. Grandchildren Hannah Townsend of Bakersfield, CA; Travis VanOrder of Traverse City, MI; Michael Townsend of Bakersfield, CA; Kayla (Thomas) Wright of Homer, MI; Joshua Townsend of. Bakersfield, CA; Sevannah (Joseph) Spencer of Jackson, MI; Kolton Ives of Jackson, MI; and Isabella Townsend of Concord, MI. Great Grandchildren Ian 16; Axel 16; Bella 14; Patrick 11; Conor 8; Amelia 8; Ariel 7; Jovie 6; Ahren 6; Stella 5; Henry 4; Luca 2; Lewis 1; Mia 1; and many more nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband Frederick (Jack) Strickrodt of 44 years; son Richard Michael Townsend; Stepson Scott Jackson Strickrodt; Father George Pink Barker; Mother Malissia Catherine Barker (White); Sisters Mary Lewis; Barbara (Andy) Owens; Alma (Glen) Westerfield and Katie Gardner.
Carolyn graduated from Terry, MS High School. She worked at Ray Printing for several years and MBTM after that as a seamstress, before retiring. Carolyn loved fishing, golfing, gardening, and walking the trails on her property. She especially loved roses, morning glories, and making bird houses from gourds. She was always close to her family and loved her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren more than anything else!
A funeral service to honor her life will be held at the Hampton Funeral Home (Jackson) on Thursday, November 6, 2025, beginning at 12 P.M. with Pastor Cory Doiron officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Jackson, Michigan. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, November 6, from 11 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in her honor to Heartland Hospice and/or Pleasant Manor Assisted Living Facility (Jackson).
