Carolyn Walker, age 88, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at PruittHealth–Holly Hill in Valdosta.
She was born on March 30, 1937, in Thomasville, Georgia, to the late Harvey Sumner and Esther Mae (Reddick) Sumner. Carolyn was employed for many years as a Customer Service Representative with C & S Bank, now known as Bank of America, where she was well admired for her dedication, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
Carolyn was blessed with a true “green thumb” and found great joy in gardening and tending to her flowers. She was a devoted Christian woman and a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church in Valdosta, where she dearly loved attending church and worshiping with her church family.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jimmy B. Walker, Sr.; her siblings: Howard Sumner, June White and Marolyn Holt.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Jr., and Lisa Walker, and Christopher and Jessica Walker all of Valdosta; grandchildren and their spouses, Julia and P.J. Fender, Matthew and Megan Walker, Ashley and Eddie Medina, Candice Trant, Hunter and Jasmine Walker, and Katherine Walker; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 12, 2026, in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services of Valdosta. The committal service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Greenwood Cemetery in Cairo, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the funeral home.
