Mary Louise Carey Snyder, age 88, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. She was born in Robinson, IL on May 3, 1937, to loving parents, Melvin Leroy Carey and Gladys Ruth Richart Carey.
She devoted many years of her life to teaching, inspiring countless students with her dedication and passion for education. Outside the classroom, she found joy in tending to her garden, nurturing it with the same care she gave her students. She also had a deep love for travel, embracing every opportunity to explore new places and cultures, journeying to destinations across the globe and collecting a lifetime of memories. Above all, she cherished her grandchildren and cherished her time with each of them.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Richard G. Snyder of Valdosta, GA; children: Mark J. Snyder (Julie) Marshall, and Dave Snyder (Shannen) of Fernandina Beach, FL; grandchildren, Holden Lindsay, Abi Snyder Levy (Dustin), Mackenzie Snyder and Kylee Snyder; great granddaughter, Collins Levy.
Services will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, March 19, 2026, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. Family will receive friends one hour prior.
