Carolyn "Sue" Wilfong, age 77, of Buckhannon, WV, in the Bailey Ridge Community, entered her heavenly home on Monday, September 30, 2024. She was born on June 28, 1947, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late O.A. and Tressie Mae Bennett Corathers. On November 25, 1967, she married Charles Burton Wilfong, who survives.
Sue is also survived by her children: Chad Wilfong and wife Raquel, Suzanne Bohman and husband John, Patty Johnson, Mark Wilfong, Ginny Wilfong, Shaton Sturms, and Samantha Harlin and husband Dave. She is lovingly remembered by her sixteen grandchildren: Kelsey and husband Josh, Kassidy, Jade, Jake and fiancée Elsa, Leanna, Bryant, Kendra, Markie, Clayton, Anna, Hayden, Mady, Hunter, Makenna, Edro, and Cathrine; as well as her two great-grandchildren: Harper and Caroline. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends who were too numerous to list.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her two brothers: James and George Corathers, and three sisters: Doris Beaver, Marie Withers, and Leverne Tenney.
Sue was a retired teacher's aide for the Upshur County Board of Education, where she created many life-long friendships with her students and co-workers. A devoted member of the Buckhannon Alliance Church, she faithfully attended services and actively participated in church events. Sue was also an avid genealogist and the "family historian," capturing precious memories through photos and sharing them on social media. She was deeply loved by her family and community, and she reciprocated that love wholeheartedly, always supporting her family, especially her grandchildren, by attending their many activities and events.
Friends will be received at the Buckhannon Alliance Church on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 4:30 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Buckhannon Alliance Church with Rev. Trevor Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Christmas Child, c/o Buckhannon Alliance Church, 438 Phillips Dairy Road, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
