Ishpeming Twp, MI- Carr Wayne Baldwin, age 87, longtime Ishpeming Township resident passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at UP Health System Bell.
Carr was born in Goodrich, MI on March 16, 1937, a son of the late Harold S. and Edith M. (Lucas) Baldwin.
After graduating from Lapeer High School, he served his country in the US Army. Carr attended Michigan Technological University where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in civil engineering.
After receiving his Master's degree in 1970, Carr worked in the Ann Arbor area and then moved his family to Ishpeming in 1974. He worked as a civil and sanitary engineer and one of the owners of ECI (Engineering Consultants, Inc.) until its acquisition by UPEA (Upper Peninsula Engineers & Architects). He continued actively working for UPEA until his recent hospitalization.
Carr was an active member at NORTHIRON Church in Ishpeming since 1975 and had served as an elder and board member since the mid-1980's.
Carr is survived by his wife Jean "Sue" (Kinnunen) whom he married on June 6, 1964, two children, Elizabeth Baldwin and Eric (Mary) Baldwin; grandchildren, Philip Nelson, Nick Thompson, Mackenzie (Paul) Racine, and Madison Baldwin; a brother Art (Laurene) Baldwin, a sister Judy (Ed) Eick, along with nephews and nieces; Brian (Susan) Baldwin, Laurie (Paul) McCollum, Bill Strong, and Debbie (Mitch) King.
Carr's family will greet relatives and friends from Noon – 1:00 pm on Friday, May 17, 2024, at NORTHIRON Church in Ishpeming where his funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm with Mark Broberg officiating.
Interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Oxford, MI.
