Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, Inc. - Mount Clemens on Dec. 9, 2025.
Carrie "Carri" Ann Colombo, age 50, a resident of Macomb Township, Michigan passed peacefully in the presence of her husband and loved ones on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. This comes as a surprise to everyone who knew and loved Carri. Unfortunately, she was unable to overcome complications from an emergency surgery in early November.
Born on October 13, 1975 in
Mount Clemens, MI to Henry "Hank" and Patricia "Pat" (Fitzgerald) Colombo, Carri attended primary school at Trinity Lutheran School in
Utica, MI before continuing her education at Stevenson High School in
Sterling Heights, MI where she played soccer for the high school team and was part of the COOP Program graduating in 1993. She continued her education at Central Michigan University earning both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. Carri worked in the Design Center at General Motors for over 28 years and was currently employed as a Digital Coordinator. Her tenure here included a six month program in Melbourne, Australia at GM's Holden facility.
In 2017, she became friends with a gentleman by the name of Michael Evans and on April 10, 2021, this couple was married and celebrated at their favorite venue – Freddy's Bar & Grill in Clinton Twp., MI. Together with her husband Mike, they owned and operated Macomb Transportation Bus Company in Mt. Clemens.
Carri was philanthropic with her time, money, and energy. She donated to Human Society on a regular basis, organized golf outings, road rally's, and dart tournaments, and raised thousands of dollars for breast cancer research while walking over 600 miles during the Susan G. Komen 3-Day walks. Her outgoing personality was evident during many of the social events she participated in, including an indoor soccer team in her 20's and 30's, Once-A-Month Bowling league for 15 years, golfing weekly, a civic adult kickball team, and numerous dart leagues.
With a passion for travel, Carri was known for the many weekends out of town, spent with friends and her husband in cities all across the United States and abroad. She could make any little weekend trip into a big deal with custom t-shirts, a themed weekend, or silly campfire games. Carri always sought out the famous restaurants while traveling and loved to dine at the local recommended venues. She loved the TV show Drive-in's Diners and Dives and would plan trips to eat at some of the tasty restaurants featured. And if a restaurant had ever been blessed by Guy Fieri, the detour was immediate. No exceptions. Carri believed flavor-town was a destination worth chasing.
Carri and Mike often visited out-of-state casinos while on a short weekend away enjoying their favorite card games, slots, and buffets that Carri would review with the seriousness of a seasoned food critic. When she wasn't traveling, she loved canoeing, camping, nights in the garage with friends and drinks, and game nights - where her competitive spirit took center stage. Whether it was bowling, bar trivia, or any game involving bragging rights, Carri played with humor, passion, and the occasional "interpretation" of the rules.
She had a huge heart, especially for animals. Many friends' dogs came to know her lovingly as "Aunt Carri," a title she held with pride and plenty of treats. Her compassion extended to people just as strongly. Feisty at times, yes; but that same fire made her a fiercely loyal and devoted friend. Carri also had an unforgettable stubborn streak. If there was a right way, a wrong way, and Carri's way… everyone knew which one they'd be doing. And somehow, her way always led to the best memories.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her husband Mike and his children, parents Hank and Pat, and the countless friends, colleagues, and acquaintances that have had the privilege to be in her life. She leaves behind laughter, stories, adventures, and a love that will be remembered for years to come. May her next journey be filled with oysters, sunshine, beaches, casinos, Guy Fieri–approved restaurants, endless game nights, and every adventure she can dream up.
Visitation will be held in the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main Street, Mt. Clemens on Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 12 Noon until 6:00p.m. Carri's life will continue to be celebrated that evening beginning at 6:30p.m. at Freddy's Bar & Grill, 40000 Garfield, Clinton Twp. 48038. Memorial donations are suggested to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Share memories, express condolences, and sign the online guestbook at www.vickfuneralhome.com.
