Carroll Gossman, 80, of Burr Oak, IA passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
Carroll was born on July 18, 1944 to Francis and Mae Luella (Ryan) of Burr Oak, IA. He was the eighth of ten children. He attended Canton High School in Canton, MN. He has many stories of his educational years with his friends and took joy in telling them to his grandchildren.
Carroll enlisted in the United States Army in 1962 and was stationed in Germany for part of that enlistment. He took great pride in his service and being a Veteran. He was a member of The Harmony American Legion Post# 81 and participated in activities with the Legion until his passing.
Carroll met Sharon on New Years Eve 1966. Carroll and Sharon were married on July 1,1967 in Cresco, IA. They were blessed with four children: Michael, Mark, Tami and Brian.
Carroll and Sharon lived on and worked his family farm for well over 50 years. His priority in life was his family, particularly his grandchildren, and would always light up when they walked in the door. He enjoyed playing Euchre and would participate in brackets with the kids and grandkids. Carroll was the best at telling stories and had a witty comment for everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Reicks) Gossman. Children: Michael (Benita) of Decorah, IA; Mark (Melissa) of Holmen, WI; Tami (Steve) Stoppelmoor of Fountain City, WI; and Brian of Eitzen, MN. Grandchildren: Ryan, Ayden, Arielle and Kolten Gossman, Konner Gossman, Kaleb, Landon and Nathan Stoppelmoor and Alyssa and Danae Gossman. Seven siblings and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Francis and Mae Gossman, two brothers Harold and Howard, several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and full military honors will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at St. Agnes Plymouth Rock Cemetery near Burr Oak, IA.
