Carroll Leroy Smith, age 81, of Glasgow, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
Born on May 28, 1944, in Barren County, Kentucky, Carroll was the beloved son of Willie Eugene and Mable Hunt Smith. A lifelong resident of the community, Carroll lived a life filled with faith, music, and service.
Carroll was a member of Peters Creek Church of Christ and a gifted musician. He proudly played with the Steel Country Band, sharing his love of country music for more than 50 years. His music brought joy to countless gatherings and left a legacy in the hearts of those who listened.
For 36 years, Carroll served as a Barren County School bus driver, safely transporting generations of children. Beyond his work, he enjoyed farming, restoring old cars, and training his cherished Border Collie dogs and sheep.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mabel Smith; his son, Michael Leroy; brothers, Everett Smith (Marie) and Rex Smith; and sisters, Juanita Doolin and Helen Eaton.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 63 years, Nell McClard Smith; sisters, Ruby Gosnell and Diane Steenburgen; brother, Ray Smith (Janice); sister-in-law, Becky Smith; special friend, Joan Arterburn; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful furry companions, Penny and Sweetie.
Carroll's life was a testament to devotion, kindness, and joy. His family and friends will remember him for his music, his laughter, and is unwavering love.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 3rd, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
