February 16, 2025 - July 20, 2025
With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved son, Carson Bauer Wilson, on July 20, 2025. Carson was born on February 16 at Anne Arundel Medical Center, one half of a beautiful set of twins. From the beginning, Carson's journey was extraordinary filled with challenge, courage, fear and fierce love.
Just one hour after birth, Carson was taken to the NICU due to a lack of movement in his legs. Within hours, our lives were forever changed as we began a path no parent expects. Despite the uncertainty, we were determined to show up for him. After two weeks in the NICU at Children's National, we were blessed with 10 unforgettable weeks at home as a family of five.
At just three months old, Carson was admitted back to Children's National with feeding challenges. Over the last two months, his condition worsened as his body began to fail him in ways no one could explain. We watched in heartbreak as our sweet boy went from breathing room air to needing IV nutrition and a ventilator. Carson's case was rare, so rare that even the most seasoned doctors were left humbled and stumped. His KCNA1 mutation has never before been documented in this way, and his legacy will live on beyond the medical journals.
Carson was a fighter. Even without words, his big, blue beautiful eyes spoke volumes. He had a way of looking deep into your soul. He brought joy to all who met him- nurses, doctors, and hospital staff alike. He was the light in every room and a favorite throughout the PICU. His strength, resilience, and personality left a mark that will never fade.
Though we may never fully understand the disorder that took him from us, we are proud of every decision we made, every question we asked, and every fight we fought for him. Carson taught us more in five months than most learn in a lifetime about love, advocacy, grace, and the strength it takes to let go when love means giving someone peace.
Carson is survived by his parents, David and Amanda Wilson, his older brother D3 and twin sister Madison, and a family who will never stop loving or honoring his memory. We will forever miss his presence but take comfort in knowing he is now free from pain, wrapped in love, and finally able to rest.
Carson was the puzzle that no one was able to solve. A mystery that brought together some of the brightest minds in medicine each one hoping to unlock the answer, yet none able to save him. He defied logic, rewrote the textbook, and challenged every assumption. And still, through all the unknowns, his spirit remained steady. In his short time here, Carson reminded the world that some puzzles are not meant to be solved, but to be loved piece by beautiful piece.
Rest peacefully, Carson. We love you so much, little buddy.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any gifts be directed to support ongoing research into rare pediatric neuromuscular disorders or to honor the incredible teams at Children's National who cared so deeply for Carson.
