Carter Carl Eustace, age 77, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, after a long illness.
He was born on December 1, 1947, in Amarillo, Texas, to Carl and Noma J. (Carter) Eustace. Carter graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo in 1966 and was later honored with the school's Rebel Hall of Fame Award in 1992. He went on to earn a B.A. in Political Science from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Carter proudly served in the National Guard and as a Dallas Police Officer before beginning a distinguished career with the United States Secret Service in 1974. Over the years, he held assignments in protection, counterfeit investigations, and training. Before retiring in 1999, Carter served as Secret Service Program Coordinator at the El Paso Intelligence Center, and later returned to protection duty as part of the detail for Lady Bird Johnson.
Carter will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and friend to everyone he met. His wide-ranging interests included World War II history, reading, marksmanship, playing the accordion, cheering for the Houston Astros, and solving puzzles. He is survived by his wife, Magdalena Lopez Eustace, and his children, Elise, Sloan, and Krista.
Family, friends, and all whose lives Carter touched are invited to a memorial service at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4800 Convict Hill Road, Austin, TX, on October 24, 2025, at 10 a.m., with a reception to follow. The Funeral Mass will also be live-streamed and may be viewed at stcatherine-austin.org. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, 12400 E. Montana Avenue, El Paso, TX, on November 7, 2025, at 11 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Boys Ranch, 600 S.W. 11th Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101, or St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Austin, TX.
