Cary Lane Calhoon, 68, of Warsaw, MO passed away July 23, 2025. Memorial services will be held at 11am, Friday, August 1, 2025, at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11:00.

Cary was born September 4th, 1956, in Independence, MO to Charles Calhoon and Nancy Keen. Cary Calhoon was one of a kind. Perfectly imperfect yet loved by all. He lived a life full of grit, heart, and laughter. Born with a love for the outdoors and a natural talent for working with his hands, he spent his early years playing baseball, hunting alongside his father, and developing a lifelong passion for carpentry, skills and values he would later pass on to his own son.

He graduated from Van Horn High school in 1974. Cary followed in his father's footsteps and became a master carpenter. He worked tirelessly until the day came when he could no longer get his boots on, a moment that said more about his dedication than any words ever could.

When he wasn't working, Cary could be found bird hunting, golfing, fishing or watching a game at the local bar. Always with a cold beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Cary truly found his peace in the woods at Truman Lake. Whether he is splitting logs, burning chicken, taking the boat out or paddling around the put-in, that's where he was the most at home. Just him and his bird dogs, lost in the quiet comfort of the woods. He was a lover, a fighter, a father, a brother, a friend, a son, a hopeless romantic, an outdoorsman and son of God. The man, the myth, the legend. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, big laughs, and even bigger love. Cary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cary was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Keen; father, Charles Calhoon; wife, LeDean Calhoon; mother-in-law, Sandy Bowen; and brother-in-law, Ted Bowen.

Cary is survived by his wife, Debbie Rousseau-Calhoon; children, Kylie (Aaron) Scully, Cody (Miki) Calhoon, Candace (Jamie) Davis, Charly (fiancé- James Grund) Calhoon; stepchildren, Holli Brown, Brett Rousseau and Tanner Rousseau; 13 grandchildren; stepmother, Betty Calhoon; sister-in-law, Karen (Pat) Carter; siblings, Cathy (Rick) Wesner, Todd (Tracy) Calhoon, Kim (Brian) Smith; step siblings, Karla Keeney Lukey, Teresa Keeney Salmon, Douglas Keeney, Debbie Keeney Barringer and several nieces and nephews and numerous friends that were his family.
