Caryl Sue Hoffman, née Dick, passed away on October 31, 2024, at age 83, in Tolar, Texas, at the home of her daughter, Kim, after a brief yet courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born on January 23, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Caryl was the daughter of Annabelle and Walter Dick. She grew up in Elmwood Place, surrounded by family and close cousins. A woman of deep Christian faith, her spirituality was her foundation, shaping her life and inspiring all who knew her. She believed in living with purpose and encouraged her children to follow their hearts and dreams.

Her pride and joy were her children—Kimberly, Amberly, and Jonathan—who were honored to be by her side until the very end. She taught us the value of family and the importance of love, which she passed down to her grandchildren, Morgan, Tanner, and Audra, and to her great-grandson, Reed John. Her bond with Reed, her newest joy, brought her immense happiness and peace in her final days.

Caryl was a creative soul with many talents. She brought warmth and beauty into the lives of those around her with her love for singing, playing the piano, and decorating. Her natural gift for artistry also extended to makeup, a skill that allowed her to help others feel their best. Every holiday was a celebration with Caryl; she filled her home with magic at Christmas and made birthdays truly special. Her love of animals was evident throughout her life, as she fulfilled her childhood dream of a home filled with cherished pets.

Her legacy lives on through her children Kim and Wes Young, Amby and Bryan Richardson, and Jonathan Hoffman and William Delgado; her grandchildren, Morgan Essman and her husband Jordan, Tanner Richardson and his wife Cheyenne, and Audra Young; and her great-grandchild, Reed John Richardson. She is also fondly remembered by her nieces, Caroline Jamison and Gina Outz.

One of the greatest gifts she gave was her belief in living fully, a spirit she passed on to each of her children. The song, "I Hope You Dance," captures her spirit: she believed in embracing life with joy and authenticity. We will carry her legacy forward, dancing through life as she taught us.

Caryl’s presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith, kindness, and dedication to family will endure. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and the importance of family. Those who knew her will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Hodapp Funeral Home, 4701 Vine Street, Carthage, 45216 from 10:00 AM until Services at 11:00 AM.
