Caryl L. Penniston, age 86 passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the New Glarus Home. She was born on August 8, 1939 the daughter of Walter and Carolyn (Sinn) Dobler. Caryl grew up in Dundee, IL and graduated from Dundee High School and continued her education in Rockford, IL at a cosmetology school. While working part time as a waitress she met Kenneth G. Penniston who was teaching in Carpentersville, IL. Caryl and Kenneth would be united in marriage on July 23, 1964 in Darlington, WI. Caryl would later work for many years for ER Wagner while she and her family resided in Winneconne. Caryl enjoyed biking, fishing, golfing, bowling, and boating. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. Caryl would move to the New Glarus area from Winneconne to be closer to family after her husband Kenneth passed in 2013. Caryl is survived by her sons Jeff (Lia) Penniston and Brad (Heather) Penniston, grandchildren Cody (Chloe), Kyle, Josie, and B.J. She is further survived by a sister Joy (Steve) Grotemeyer, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, siblings Robert, Bill, Lorna, Gene, Marlene, Jack, Dave, Frank, and Judy. Private family graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Fayette Cemetery, rural Darlington, WI. The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family. Online condolences may be given at
