Beloved mother and grandmother survived by daughter Christine Traugott of Arlington, Virginia and son David (Britt) of Alpharetta and grand children Eric, Brooke, and Allie of Tuscaloosa, AL. She lived life to the fullest is dancing with the angels. She will be forever missed.
Caryl grew up in Teaneck, NJ with many fond memories of vacations to the Jersey shore. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College in Massachusetts and her Masters of Education from where her specialty was writing in all genres. Caryl loved to share her memories of her many travels across the globe including her memories of being a teacher. A testament to her love of teaching was that she was still in contact with students from decades ago. More than anything, she loved to be with her family. Most of our memories are of her laughing and happily celebrating someone or something important to her.
So many refer to Caryl as Grammy, not just her family but the many friends and families that she spent so much time with. She could command an audience when she wanted to share something, and they are wonderful stories that so many of us remember fondly. Grammy loved a good party and loved to go on family trips. Her favorite time of the year was when the whole family and many friends met in Twin Lake Village every year for a few weeks of just being together and enjoying and 'old-fashioned family vacation.'

I still miss you, Clyde/Diefie/Caryl.....It would be such fun to reminisce together-but some day I´ll join you and we´ll have a chance to be buddies and besties again.

Since our friendship took place when we were in elementary and high school in Teaneck, NJ, back in the early 50´s mostly, I don´t remember many conversations clearly. We laughed together a lot-many times about Clyde Beatty (anybody remember him?). There was a radio show we listened to (long time ago!) religiously which we then needed to discuss in detail and at length-often to peals of laughter. We did this for the several years that show was on the radio. We attended camp together and sometimes vacationed together as young teens. We were buddies. I miss her. And I miss having yet another opportunity to fly back east to visit. Moral...don´t put off visiting dear friends you love.

Caryl and I were dear friends in our childhood and teen years. She was Deefie to me and I was Fish-then we both called each other Clyde for a long time-even in recent years in a text. So many memories! Whispering Willows camp, Spray Beach NJ, and hours of teen girl chat. We graduated from Teaneck High School in 1955 and went our separate ways to college and marriage and adult life. I miss her-and look forward to a grand reunion when I join her in Heaven.
