Following high school, he attended Iowa Automotive & Diesel Institute Inc., in Cedar Rapids graduating in 1973, with an engine/transmission and diesel mechanic degree. He started farming with his dad in 1973. Farming was such a joy to him. Harry and Casey raised cattle and hogs and grew corn and soybeans. Through the years Casey has worked many jobs in the area. Due to his heart disease, he retired from Kinze Manufacturing in 2007. He was semi-active in farming with his son, Ben, for a few years. Casey served on the Deep River Senior Housing Board and the Deep River Community Center for a number of years. He is a member of the United Church of Deep River. Casey was Mayor of Deep River for a few years. Casey also spent his years keeping the town of Deep River looking like someone cared, which included volunteering his time to help raze a few buildings and multiple other tasks. He demonstrated a strong commitment to the well-being of the Deep River community and was diligent in putting in an effort to achieve the cleanliness goals, out of his own pocket. Casey didn't wait for others to act, but actively stepped up to address a need, showing genuine concern for his community with his positive energy and a willingness to tackle the task at hand. His desire to have a clean town was appreciated by many. He was always ready to lend a hand to family, friends and neighbors. Casey had the spirit of God with a heart and mission to help. Casey enjoyed family functions, tractor pulls, car races, farm auctions, music concerts, photography and spending time with the locals at the coffee shop. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Casey sure made an impact on lots of people! Many fun memories can be told. Casey "Did it his way. Did it his way to the end!" Lots of fun memories when it comes to Casey Pierce. One Saturday evening Casey's mother, Virginia, was at Casey's house in Deep River to go to What Cheer with Casey to watch son, Ben, at the figure – 8 car races. Casey, Charlotte and Virginia were outside talking. Casey was telling Charlotte it was 26 miles to Grinnell where Virginia lived. Virginia's opinion was that it was three to four miles further. A bit of friendly disagreement went on for a short while. Virginia spoke up and said, "Well, Casey, you know I drive on ALL four tires, not just two!!" Casey's legacy will be honored by his wife, Charlotte of Deep River, IA; his son, Ben (Ashley) Pierce, of Deep River, IA; his daughter, Amber (Kris) Hudson of Belle Plaine, IA and his stepson, Greg (Elizabeth) Wolfe of Washington, IA.
