Phyllis Rauch, 89 of Barnes City passed away Saturday evening, January 24, 2026 at her home under hospice care. A Celebration of Life will begin at 10:00 am Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. A private burial will be held in the Barnes City Cemetery at Barnes City. Visitation will begin after 2:00 pm on Friday, January 30, 2026 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home with the family present from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made in the family's name and will be split among several different organizations. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis Joann Rauch, the daughter of Robert and Lela Rose (Byers) Sanders, was born on November 7, 1936 east of Barnes City. She graduated from Barnes City High School with the class of 1954. She began working for the Gibson Savings Bank the Monday after graduation on May 24, 1954. Phyllis wanted to go to Business School, but Louie L. Arendt did not want her to because he wanted to teach her his way of banking, so in a way she attended Louis L. Arendt School of Banking. On February 11, 1956, Phyllis was united in marriage to Robert H. Rauch at the St. John's Lutheran Church parsonage near Victor. To this union two children were born, Steven and Diane. Phyllis worked 65 years at the Gibson Savings Bank retiring in 2020. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and drag racing in her younger years. She had a beautiful flower bed and also enjoyed watching NHRA, NASCAR, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bulls and the Indiana Fever. She was a member of the Barnes City United Methodist Church, the Ruritan's Club and the Fuller-Sarvis American Legion Auxiliary in Barnes City.

Her legacy will be honored by her son, Steven L. Rauch of Springfield, MO and Diane (Mike) Henry of Barnes City; three grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff) Meyers of Fairbank, IA, Jennifer (Bob Keiran) McGuire of Barnes City and Wesley (Allie) Henry of Barnes City; six grandchildren, Abby and Ally Parker; Amy and Addy Meyers, Curtis McGuire and Tripp Henry along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert H. Rauch; her sister, Lareta (Clyde) Sanders and a great-great grandson in infancy.
