Martha Hicks, 78, formerly of Montezuma, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Brooklyn Community Estates, Brooklyn, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 beginning at 10:30 am at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery at Montezuma. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Martha's name to help with final expenses and checks may be payable to Holland-Coble Funeral Home. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.

Martha Jane Hicks was born on May 8, 1947 to Harley Rose, Sr. and Beatrice Walden Rose in Delta, Iowa. Martha attended school at Montezuma and graduated with the class of 1965. Martha was united in marriage to Gary Hicks Sr. on August 21, 1965 at the Pastor's home in Victor, Iowa. They became the parents of two children, Billy and Becky. She worked at a grocery store in Deep River before working at De Long's in Grinnell as a seamstress for making letter jackets for over 40 years. After De Long's closed, she went back to school and became a CNA. Martha worked at St. Francis Manor for a few years before she retired and continued volunteering to help patients at St. Francis. Martha loved her family and most of all, her grandchildren. She enjoyed socializing, friends, sewing and bowling league.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Becky (Adam) Biris; her grandsons, Joey (Celsey) Froias, III, Clayton Froias, and Trace Froias; her great grandchildren, Deacon, Lyvia and Trey; her siblings, Diana (Roger) Gregson and a brother, as well as many other friends and relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary; her son, Billy; and her sisters, Mary Rose and Joyce Rose.
