Catherine A. Bebko

Catherine A. Bebko ("Cathy"), age 75, of Erie passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025. She fought the good fight, finished the race and now she stands in the presence of the Lord. She was born in Erie on May 18, 1949 a daughter of the late Henry and Joan (Matczak) Shea.
Cathy was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy, Class of 1967 and St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1970. She went on to work at St. Vincent Hospital as an ER registered nurse. Growing up Cathy loved dancing and performing in school plays and was an avid reader.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Cathy was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a member of the Welcome Club. She loved traveling, spending time in Florida with her loving husband Jim, lobster dinners with friends, and good political discussions. Cathy also enjoyed cheering for her children and grandchildren at sporting events and musical performances. She will always be remembered for her fighting spirit and perseverance in the face of adversity.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, James Shea, Jacqueline Cieplechowicz and Mary Jo Shea.
Catherine is survived by her husband of 53 years, James Bebko, her children Jennifer Jauffret, husband Christophe, and Sean Bebko, wife Leslie; grandchildren Connor, Capucine, Carter, Clementine and Celestine Jauffret, Allison, Jonah, Gavin and Hannah Bebko. She is also survived by a brother Patrick Shea, wife Sally, Patricia, wife of brother James Shea and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 4 to 6 pm at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street. A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 11am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1626 West 26th Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank or St. Paul's Free Clinic.
