St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 AM, Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Catherine Marie Neveu Berard, 69, who passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes.
A visitation will take place at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Saturday from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 AM on Saturday.
Rev. Abelardo Gabriel will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Melanie Neveu and Joyrance N. Cormier.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Catherine worked for many years at Martin Mills and then worked as a dispatcher for St. Martinville Police Department.
Outside of work, Catherine had a beautiful personality that radiated warmth and love. Her family and friends will fondly remember her infectious laugh and loving support that brought joy into their lives.
Catherine embraced every opportunity to spend time with her loved ones. Whether it was shopping trips, going to the Casino, porch sitting, and enjoying meals out with friends and family. Catherine cherished these moments dearly. But above all else, spending time with her grandchildren brought an indescribable happiness to her heart. Their laughter filled her home with love and created memories that will be treasured.
She is survived by her husband, Shedrick Berard; sons, Terry Batiste, Jr. and Jeffery (Jameka) Batiste, Sr.; daughters, Cindy Batiste; step-sons, Jeremy (Tina) Francis, Shedrick (Precious) Berard, Jr., and Nicholias Berard; step-daughter, Monique (Edward) Alfonso; brothers, Earney Neveu and Tyrone Neveu; sisters, Lois (Otis) Ledet, Barbara Neveu, Serhania (Norman) Mitchell and Jeanette (Rufus) Wyatt; Grandkids, Sage Batiste, Jayshaun Batiste, Jeffery Batiste, Jr., Khloie Batiste and Demonte Williams.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Inez Neveu; brother, Carl Phillip Neveu, Sr.; sisters, Anita Chevalier, Sybil Neveu, and Elaine Neveu; Grandson, Braylon Batiste.
Pallbearers will be Courtney Neveu, Chris Hall, Terrence Batiste, Larry Jones, Jr., Edward Chevalier, Jr., and Matthew Niavez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffery Batiste, Sr., Terry Batiste, Jr., Shedrick Berard, Tyrone Neveu, Earney Neveu, James Berard, Ronald Louis, Otis Ledet and Rufus Wyatt.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to those who prayed and gave continual support during a most difficult time.
