Catherine Brewer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Frist Funeral Home, Inc. - Clinton on Feb. 5, 2026.
Catherine "Katie" Brewer, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 3, 2026, surrounded by love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived. She was a woman of remarkable spirit, curiosity, and grace, whose adventurous heart carried across continents and into the lives of countless friends along the way.

Born in Clinton, Indiana, on September 12, 1929, to Obard Santrach and Mary (Chiesa) Santrach. Katie grew up with a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and learning. These values shaped a lifetime of meaningful relationships and bold exploration. Whether she was strolling through European cities, or discovering hidden gems closer to home, she believed that the world was meant to be experienced fully and joyfully.

To know Katie was to know warmth, laughter, and storytelling. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, and her home was always open to friends and family. She found happiness in simple pleasures – good conversation, shared meals, beading belts and purses, embordering beautiful skirts or going fishing.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald Brewer, and son, Michael "Bimmer" Brewer, and the love of her life Richard Owens.

Those left behind to remember Katie are her sons, James Brewer of Wyoming, and Steve Brewer of Georgia; daughter-in-law, Lynne Brewer; sister, Stephanie Harris of Illinois; grandchildren, Jennifer Brewer, Joseph Brewer, Samantha Brewer, Evan Brewer, Adam Brewer, and Lauren Brewer, and three great-grandchildren.

Honoring Katie's wishes cremation was chosen. There will be no service.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in memory of Katie to https://amor.org/. Mexico was one of her favorite places to visit.
