Catherine Locklear Carroll, age 93, of Fayetteville, NC was born April, 22, 1930 in Robeson Co. to the late Loftin Locklear and Rosie Jones Locklear and departed this life on August 16, 2023 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Catherine resided with her son, Mark and wife, Sheila.
Catherine was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother “granny”, aunt, and a true warrior. She loved animals, working in the yard, she had a “green thumb.” Catherine also enjoyed music, putting puzzles together and doing crossword puzzles. She was a friend to everyone and very opinionated. Catherine was a strong woman and actually said what was on her mind. Catherine enjoyed traveling, shopping, and bracelets. Catherine had a spiritual gift, she could tell you something was going to happen before it took place.
In addition to parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Carroll, Sr.; one son, Joseph F. Carroll, Jr.; three brothers and seven sisters.
Catherine is survived by two sons, Mark A. Carroll and wife Sheila of Fayetteville, NC and George Locklear of Goldsboro, NC; two daughters, Rosemarie Swartzwelder and husband Lon of Effingham, IL and Katherine Britt, and husband John of St. Pauls, NC; two sisters, Geraldine Locklear of Pembroke, NC Christine Lugo of Hope Mills, NC; one brother Ervin Locklear of St. Pauls, NC; six granddaughters of NC and two granddaughters of IL; three grandsons of NC and one grandson of CA; 20 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
