Catherine Ann "Cathy" Castañeda

Catherine Ann Castañeda, 68, of Austin,Texas passed away on Monday, March 2nd, 2026 surrounded by family. She was born July 18th, 1957 in Austin, Texas.

Cathy was preceded in death by her mother Mary C. Herrera and father Jesse J. Castañeda. She is survived by her wife of 34 years, Pamela Pinto and her brothers Mike Guzman ( Debbie), Jesse Castañeda Jr.(Dede), sisters Regina C. Pompa (Felix), Christina Fernandez ( Ariel) Patti Montoya( Javier), Dotti de la Hoya(Francisco) and Priscilla Castañeda.

Cathy graduated from high school before enlisting in the Texas National Guard and then joined the U.S. Air Force where she proudly served her country as an Administrative Specialist and Aircraft Electrician. After leaving the Air Force she worked in electronics. In 2003 she attended the Texas Culinary Academy where she earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts. She worked in the culinary field for several years before retiring.

Cathy was a cat lover and enjoyed spending time with her cat , Pretty Jane Pinto, gardening and listening to music by Cher and Carly Simon.

The family would like to thank the IMC staff at St. David's Hospital and Christopher House for their care and support during this time.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 11th at 10 am at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 SI-35 Frontage Rd . Austin, TX 78704
