Catherine Marie Coleman gained her angel wings on January 20,2025. Being 97 years old, she waited a long time for her heavenly rewards. She was born June 14, 1927, on Dusk Camp Road in Gilmer County.
She professed her Christianity all her life since she was saved at theage of eight in Kingston, WV and she was a powerful prayer warrior until she drew her last breath. She was a member of LifeBridge Assembly in Oak Hill.
Preceded in death by her parents, Roy E., and Bessie (Collins) Shifflett; husband, Homer S. Coleman; brother, Raymond R. Shifflett; sisters, Katie Sink, Helen Stanley, Vada Ellison, Silva Shifflett, and Mary Hess Walton.
Those left to cherish wonderful memories are her daughter, Patricia Coleman; and sons, James Coleman (Lina), Norman Coleman (Diana), Roy Coleman (Diana), and Jerome Coleman (Melissa); sixteen grandchildren; Mark Tincher, April Cook, Brian Tincher, Ashley Moerschel, James Coleman JR, Jeanny Pidgeon, Jeanette Miller, Paul Kimber, Sam Coleman, Michael Coleman, Christopher Coleman, Thomas Coleman, Jerome Coleman JR, Shaun Coleman, Tyler Coleman, and Julie Fox; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, and many special nieces, nephews, as well as two special young men, Levi and Kiran.
In addition to being devoted to her family, Catherine volunteered at her church and Plateau Medical Center for many years. She was a cook for Fayette County schools and Appalachian Wildwaters. She made many friends and was well known in the community for her banana bread and brownies.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park.
