Shirley Ann Bowen Washburn, 85, of Fayetteville, West Virginia, passed away, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at home with her family by her side. Shirley was born on May 25, 1940, in St. Albans, West Virginia, to the late Frances W. and Loredia Dale Bowen.

Shirley was a beloved mother and grandmother. Her greatest love was God and her family. Shirley was very talented in music, poetry, and cooking. She was the best mamaw, mom, and friend anyone could ever ask for. She was full of love and laughter, always.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her siblings, John Bowen, Thomas Bowen, Frances Bowen McCune, Robert Bowen, and Charlotte Bowen Armstead.

Left to cherish her loving memory, her 4 children, Becky Arthur (Pat), John Washburn (Debbie), Jill Toney (Mike), and Keith Washburn (Laurie); 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; a sister, Phyllis Lilly; a brother, Calvin Bowen (Brenda); several cherished nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, March 14, 2026, at High Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Lilly of Grove City, Ohio, officiating. Interment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park.

Friends may call on the family 1 hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Allen Stover, Luke Stover, Pat McGraw, Mike Toney, Jason Toney, and Keith Washburn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Southern WV or Just for Kids Inc.

Miss Shirley was a spark of life. Although I was not privileged to have been acquainted with Ms Shirley for much of my life;; the opportunities I had to know her, I was always impressed with the fact that Shirley's smiling face seemed to always light up the space she commanded.
