Dencil Ray Preast

Dencil Ray Preast, 92, of Victor, West Virginia, passed away, Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Bowers Hospice House. Dencil was born on September 30, 1933, in Vinton, West Virginia, to the late Cecil and Lula Preast.

Dencil was a shoe cobbler in Summersville, West Virginia.

Dencil enjoyed spending time at church, loved reading the Bible, and talking to people about the Lord. He was a people person and a prankster, who loved watching Gunsmoke. Dencil loved to eat fried oysters and Little Debbie Raisin Crème Pies, he would count the raisins every time, but most importantly, he loved his family.

In addition to his parents, Dencil was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Audrey; a son, Dale Preast; 3 infant siblings; and brothers, Thomas, Jerry, and Dennis Preast.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Debbie McVey (Richard); a daughter-in-law, Peggy Preast; grandchildren, Dale Preast Jr. (Gloria), Heather Hundley, and Valerie Endicott (Jeff); great-grandchildren, Cameron and Kenna Preast, Silas, Hannah, and Paul Hundley, and Luke, Levi, Lilly, Logan, and Lyla Endicott; brothers, Howard (Cathy), David (Evie), and Cecil Jr. (Nancy) Preast; and sisters, Carolyn Young and Mary Taylor (Gaylord).

Services will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Victory Independent Baptist Church in Victor, West Virginia, with Pastor Timothy Young officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Lawn Memory Gardens in Victor.

Friends may call on the family 1 hour prior to the services.

Pallbearers will be her grandson, Dale Preast Jr.; and great-grandsons, Cameron Preast, Silas and Paul Hundley, and Luke and Levi Endicott.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
