Harriet Kantrowitz
March 5, 2025
To all members of the "Cis" Dowling family:
I write for the Kantrowitz family of Brookline, MA, to express our deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We learned today of her passing (April, 2024) and are so very sorry we were unable to be with you during her funeral, especially to add our sentiments.
Many years ago, and over many years, Cis took care of our mother, Gertrude (aka Gert) during the many years she needed full-time care following a cardiac arrest during emergency surgery. Gert lived for thirteen (13) years after her initial 2 year-long recovery and during the 3 years she lived with us, and on into the years Gert moved to a care facility, through Gretta Di Giacco, your mom's Dedham neighbor, the two of them spent many days helping us care for Gert.
We all fell in love with Cis, just like the others blessed to know her. We have continued to be in touch with Cis following Gert's death over 15 years ago and, until this week when our 2024 annual letter mailed in January was returned, we were not aware of your loss.
Please know we are deeply saddened to learn of her loss and send love to your family. Cis was deeply treasured in our family and certainly any words that might really express how much we valued her friendship elude us.
Most sincerely,
Harriet Kantrowitz for the Warren and Harriet Kantrowitz family
