Jeffrey Peden Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

It is with the most profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Jeffrey (Jeff) J. Peden,75, on August 6, 2025, at his home in Cotuit, Ma. after a short illness, with his loving wife at his side

.

Jeff was born in Providence, RI, on May 20,1950, son of the late Harry E. Peden Jr. and Trinette C. Peden of Greenwich, CT. He spent his formative years in Greenwich and was a proud alumnus of Greenwich High School and Wilbraham & Monson Academy of MA. Jeff continued his education at Barrington College in RI, where he cultivated a love for athletics. During his college years, Jeff was an avid athlete who enjoyed playing hockey, soccer, and wrestling. He also loved to play tennis and go fishing with his Uncle Sam on his boat in Siesta Key, Fl. He was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and New England Patriots throughout his life.

Jeff was a long-time resident of Yarmouth Port, Ma. Later, after meeting his wife, Susan, and moving from South Dennis, Ma. They built their home in Cotuit, Ma., where they lived for the past 16 years in what they both called their " Happy Place."

For many years, Jeff ran an independent video production company on Cape Cod, specializing in wedding videography. He truly enjoyed capturing special moments and being a small part of the new beginning for so many newlywed couples.

Jeff had dedicated 27 years to the United States Postal Service at the South Yarmouth office on Cape Cod before retiring. His work ethic and commitment were evident in every role he undertook, and he carried those same values into his personal life.

Jeff leaves behind his beloved and devoted wife, Susan M. Peden of Cotuit, Ma. Together, they shared a deep connection built on mutual respect, love, and unwavering support for each other.

He leaves behind his son, Jeffrey J. Peden 11, and his daughter-in-law, Julie E. Hayes of Scituate, Ma.; his daughter Aimee M. Farrell of Middleton, Fl.; and his step son Kevin M. Dahl of Weymouth, Ma. and was the proud grandfather of Sean and Mia Farrell; step-grandfather of Jacqueline M. Caetano and her husband Max Caetano of Bridgewater, Ma.; and loving step-great grandfather of Kloee and Max Caetano.

Jeff is remembered by his siblings; brother Harry E. Peden 111 and sister-in-law Peggy Peden of Sarasota, Fl.; sister Helen E. Wells and brother-in-law Kenneth Wells of Portsmouth, Ohio; and brother Jay S. Peden of Ct.

His extended family held a special place in his heart, including sister-in-laws Maryann Mannett of Milford, Ma.; Janet E. O'Brien of Plymouth, Ma.; and brother-in-law Paul E. O'Brien of Plymouth, Ma., with whom he shared a particularly close bond

.

Throughout his life, Jeff found joy in the simple pleasures that brought him closer to nature and family. A passionate birder, he especially loved watching bluebirds build their nests in the birdhouse and raise their young until they were ready to fledge. This passion became a cherished tradition he passed down to his great-grandchildren, Kloee and Max, from an early age, spending countless hours teaching them about birds and nature. He also enjoyed playing football with them and attending their flag football tournments.

Jeff was not only my loving husband and partner in life but my better half. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him. Jeff's warmth and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had an extraordinary gift for listening and found joy in hearing peoples stories- each conversation a testament to his sincerity and kindness.

A viewing will be held on August 19, 2025 at 9:00am to 11:00am at Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 619 State Rd. Plymouth, Ma.,

There will be a church service at 11:30am at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 384 Court St. Plymouth, followed by a graveside service at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.

My sweet, loving Jeff, How I miss you so since you´ve gone away? I miss seeing your smiling face when I´d wake up each day. I miss the way you made me feel, when I would be with you. I miss our morning conversations and the special things you´d do. I´m thankful for all the years we´ve shared, but since we´ve been apart, I have to say what I miss most, would be your loving heart. My heart is broken, the tears won´t stop, Please tell me how do I go on without you.

Jeff, a fellow Barrington College Warrior, had a zest for life, and my best memories of him centered around athletics. He and I both shared a love for the Yankees. His deep passion for hockey, as well as his skill, earned him much respect, especially from those of us who could barely stay on our feet. Jeff was a good friend to anyone who had the privilege of getting to know him.

Jeff Peden was a wonderful, giving man who I was blessed to know for a brief time when we both studied at Barrington College in Rhode Island in the early 1970's. He was passionate about floor hockey, which he taught me to play, and he was a delightful person to be around. I'm sure he will be missed by his family and friends and I will cherish my memories of our friendship. I will say a prayer for his family as they cope with their grief at Jeff's passing. With warm regards, Charles David Edinger

Jeff played soccer with Peter C and I at Barrington. He organized hockey events at the Portsmouth rink during the winter. Crazy legs as Peter would called him was the experienced hockey player of the group. Great memories of his smile, love of sports and his friendship
