Margaret M. "Snooky" Walsh (Peters), age 86, a lifelong resident of Canton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Milton.
Snooky's greatest love was her family and friends. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Walsh. They were married for nearly 45 years until Ed passed in 2009. She was also the devoted mother to Edward J. Walsh Jr. of Shreveport, LA, and Charles E. Walsh, with his wife Michele, of Canton. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Olsen of Mansfield, and was predeceased by her parents Herman and Josephine Peters and her brothers Edward and Carl Peters. Fond memories of Aunty Snooky will be carried on by her nieces and nephews who she loved like her own. Her joy was multiplied by her step-grandchildren Casey Waite, Jaime Marder and husband Joseph, and Patrick Waite, and her great-grandchildren James and Jayden Marder.
After graduating from Canton High School, Snooky embarked on a career path that would take her from working the local drive in to hairdressing and eventually a barber shop. She was the first female barber in Mattapan. She would later leave the workforce to raise her two sons. Once they began school, she would return to work for pet products distributor Rolf C. Hagen in Mansfield, MA.

Beyond her professional life, Margaret's passions were the joy of her family and holiday gatherings. She had a special love for playing cards with her sister and nieces, a pastime that brought laughter and closeness to many family gatherings. Additionally, Margaret found excitement and entertainment in playing the slots at area casinos and visiting Las Vegas.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Oscar Romero Church in Canton on Monday August 18th at 12:00 noon. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service on Monday morning from 10:30 to 11:45 am at Dockray and Thomas Funeral Home in Canton. Burial will follow the Mass at Milton Cemetery.
