Catherine Doyle (née Aplington), of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026.
Catherine was born on September 25, 1934, in LaSalle, Illinois, to Attorney William Aplington and Elizabeth Aplington (née LaVanway). Raised alongside her eight brothers and sisters, Catherine enjoyed a happy childhood.
A graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School, Catherine attended the University of Illinois, where she earned a degree in Sociology in 1956. Following graduation, she married Dr. Bernard Doyle, a widower with four children, at St. Patrick's Church in LaSalle, Illinois. Together they welcomed five more children, growing the family to eleven.
In 2005, Catherine and Bernard moved to Golden, Colorado, to be closer to several of their adult children and grandchildren.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband; six brothers; one sister; and her son, Christopher.
She is survived by her children: William (Alice); James (Joan); Claire Wells; Suzanne Tenney; Thomas (Jean); John; Nicholas; and Mary Vulcani (Steven); as well as her sister, Mary Claire Tipton, and numerous grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held on January 9 at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Lakewood, Colorado. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
