Catherine (Capuano) Fanion, 99 of Cherry Valley, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, September 6, 2025 with her beloved family by her side.
Catherine was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Teresa (Alteri) Capuano. She attended Worcester schools and later worked at City Hospital in the laundry department for 25 years before her retirement. Catherine was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where she was involved with the church’s Golden Years Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed bingo and playing cards on Wednesday nights with fellow 50 Shrewsbury Street residents.
Catherine’s husband, Earl E. Fanion, Sr. passed away on December 23, 1989. She is survived by three sons, Edward J. Fanion and his wife Susan of Worcester, Earl E. Fanion, Jr. of Cherry Valley and Gary J. Fanion of Worcester: three daughters, Carol A. Nourse and her husband David of Leicester, Sheila Howard and her husband Dennis of East Brookfield, and Ann Marie Jones and her husband Mel of Bradenton, FL.; a daughter in law, Kristina Fanion of Worcester; two brothers, James Capuano of Worcester and Anthony Capuano of Auburn; a sister, Nancy Williamson of Oxford; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a son, Robert J. Fanion, a daughter, Cheryl Poirier; a grandson, Earl E. Fanion, III; a brother, Joseph Capuano and two sisters, Rose Brunelle and Constance Capuano.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
