Neil Everett Fanion, born on November 15, 1950, in Bristol, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025. A devoted family man and a passionate servant of God, Neil carved a remarkable presence in the lives of those who knew him as a Pastor and Hospice Chaplain. His unwavering commitment to his faith and community was complemented by his spirited personality; he was known for his wit, humor, and candid nature. A proud Marine and an equally proud American, Neil exemplified loyalty to his family and friends, embodying those values until the end of his days.

Neil was well-regarded not only for his pastoral work but also for his creative spirit, having founded the "American Federation of Old West Reinactors," which became a nationwide gathering for those who cherished the history and culture of the Wild West. His love for this theme extended into countless memories made during trips to historical towns such as Tombstone, Dodge City, and Galveston, where his passion for old west reenactments came to life. Additionally, Neil enjoyed playing golf and watching NASCAR and football, along with collecting model NASCAR race cars, further showcasing his vibrant and diverse interests. As a scholar, Neil held a Bachelor of Biblical Studies, which provided a strong foundation for his dedicated ministry. He touched the lives of many through his genuine compassion and profound understanding of God's word, sharing both the truth and joy that faith brings. His ability to connect with others through humor and honesty enriched the lives of his congregation and beyond.

Neil is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn Fanion of Trinidad, Texas; children: Hugh Hession and his wife Rosalyn of Georgia, Reggie Nelson and his wife Lisa of Connecticut, Holly Jardine and her husband Ed of Connecticut, Hope Miele and her husband Tony of Georgia, Elizabeth Johnson and her husband Reggie of Texas; as well as cherished grandchildren, Kennedy, Jesse, Zackary, Lydia, Ethan, Treyce, Teyla, and Jazmine.

He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Fanion; mother, Violet Sheldon Fanion; sister, Gail Krause; and grandson, Joshua. Each of these individuals held a special place in Neil's heart, and their memories will be honored as part of his enduring legacy.

Visitation will be held at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, Texas, on October 23, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
