Joe Haught Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Joe Dean Haught, who left his earthly body on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, surrounded by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In his final moments, his family sang songs of praise and worship, ushering him into the presence of the Lord.

Born in Waxahachie, Texas, Dean was a devoted husband to Etta Jo (Davis) Haught for 62 years, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a quiet, godly man whose life was marked by faith, generosity, and service. He loved Jesus with all his heart - and after that, he loved his family deeply.  Dean was a man of many talents: a Master Plumber by trade, a deer hunter, frog gigger, rabbit and chicken farmer, gardener, stained-glass artist, and pea salad chef (a dish his family lovingly fought over) and a nature enthusiast. He was a church builder, church planter, preacher, and deacon - a short term wedding officiant and he baptized several in Lake Tahoe. He was a carpenter - and a builder of God’s kingdom, a fisherman - and a fisher of men.  He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and anyone in need. Whether driving miles to pick up children for church or sacrificing to send his daughter on a mission trip, Dean lived out his faith with action. He prayed with boldness and believed in God’s provision, often sharing stories of answered prayers that inspired others.  His legacy of faith lives on in his children and grandchildren. He taught them how to love, serve, and walk with Jesus. His commitment to his wife was evident in every gesture, and their 62-year marriage was a testament to enduring love.

He is survived by his wife, Etta Jo Haught; Daughters - Deanna and Todd Kappelman, Emily Phillips, Mary and William Fifield, and Lisa and Dennis Adams; Grandchildren, Tiffany Gaines, Natalie Fifield, Jeremey Fifield, Dalton Fifield, Audrey Fifield, Spencer Fifield, Kayley Hooter, Justin Tyler and Kevin Tyler; and 13 Great Grandchildren; Siblings, Ann Hardin, Nancy Robinson and Michael Haught, and countless nieces and nephews; and preceded in death by parents, Ike Bailey Haught, Annie Mae Haught; Siblings, Gracie Hunter, Thomas Bailey Haught, and Marie Madill.

We grieve his absence but rejoice in his victory over death. We know he is in Heaven, celebrating and waiting for the rest of us. 2 Corinthians 5:8: “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
