Edwin Lawwill Hartman III, affectionately known as Lowell Hartman, III, was born on November 14, 1948, in Oak Harbor, Washington. He left this world loving and kind, passing away peacefully on August 21, 2025, in Kaufman, Texas. Throughout his life, Lowell was a gentle soul, known for his compassion and dedication to those in need, particularly the feral cats in his community. He thoughtfully engaged with these animals, humanely trapping them and ensuring they received crucial veterinary care, often covering the costs himself. This act of kindness not only showcased his empathy but also highlighted his commitment to bettering the lives around him, regardless of their species.

Lowell's journey through life included proud service as a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War, a chapter that deeply influenced his sense of duty and honor. Upon returning home, he carried the values of courage and compassion into every aspect of his life.

He leaves behind his son, Steven Hartman, and granddaughters, Riley and Devin Hartman, along with three sisters and one brother.

Lowell is preceded in death by his devoted parents, Edwin Lawwill Hartman, Jr. and Martha Louise Hossack. Their influence undoubtedly shaped the man he became, and his legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the love he fostered in his community.

Private services will be held at a later date at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.
