Michael Joe Shewmaker, age 79, passed away on July 21, 2025, at 9:45 PM at his home. He was born on December 5, 1945, in Dallas County, Texas to Mark and Dollie Mae Shewmaker.
Michael worked for the City of Dallas in the Street Department, where he was a garbage man for many years until he was injured. Once he recovered, he started working for Transit Mix as a concrete truck driver where he ultimately in 2007. After retirement, Michael loved going to yard sales, doing yard work, being with family and friends, and helping anyone he could.
Michael donated his body to science so we will have a Celebration of Life on August 9, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Tolosa Baptist Church, 19101 State Hwy 274, Kemp, Texas, 75143. His son Shawn Davis will be officiating the service alongside Bro. David Williams of Tolosa Baptist Church. He will definitely be missed by his family and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Dollie Mae Shewmaker; all of his siblings (he was the last of five children); and a son-in-law, Keith English.
Michael is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ethel Shewmaker; his children, Linda English of Mabank, Texas, Betty and Leon Hunter of Traskwood, Arkansas; Wanda and Vic Hitzfeld of Mabank, Texas, Shawn Davis of Waxahachie, Texas, Verona Pilcher of Traskwood, Arkansas, Meagin and Jerry Goff of Cabot, Arkansas; 28 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and lots of other family and friends.
