A devoted loved one with resilient strength and a kind heart is how Catherine T. Gralewski will be remembered after her passing on April 16, 2023, at the age of 64. She was surrounded by her loving family, who continue to honor her love and legacy.
Cathy was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 7, 1958 to Mitchell and Diane Gralewski. In 1977 she married Salvador Hernandez and they were married for 11 years and had five beautiful children, who she loved wholeheartedly.
In 1993 Cathy moved up north to Marinette, Wisconsin, where she helped many in need in her career as a Program Director for the developmentally disabled at Little City and Dungarvin, for over 40 years she took great pride in her work. The thing that brought her the most pride and joy was her family and their traditions. She was so thankful to experience her children getting married, and the birth of her nine grandchildren.
Cathy loved going on vacations with her loved ones and one of her favorite places to go was Disney. Going to the movies and playing bingo were some of her most treasured past times. She also loved the finer things in life like getting her hair and nails done, enjoying delicious cuisine, and also had a fond love of purses.
Cathy's strength was undeniable. She was an ovarian cancer survivor. Her ten-year battle with kidney disease was faith-filled and courageous until the end. Cathy's best friend, caregiver, and companion, Debby Etling, of over 35 years was by her side every step of the way through her journey. Cathy set a wonderful example of strength and love for her family and she will be dearly missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her father Mitchell Gralewski, and her mother Diane Gralewski.
She is survived by her significant other, Debby Etling, her brother, Lou (Nancy) Gralewski, her aunt Bernadette (Ron) Reisinger, her children Richard (Trina) Hernandez, Dave Hernandez, Alicia (Tom) Noppenberg, Tony (Tara) Hernandez, Steven (Rachel) Hernandez, her grandchildren Landen, Sidney, Stella, Aerabella, Silvia, Scarlet, Cash, Leo, and Olivia, her nephew Austin and many other friends and family.
There will be a celebration of life held Saturday, April 22nd at Holy Family Parish Center at 2715 Taylor Street, Marinette, Wisconsin from 12pm-3pm.
In lieu of flowers there's been a memorial established for the American Kidney Foundation, in her honor. Please visit www.kidneyfund.org
