Catherine Hargrave, age 98, of Omaha Illinois passed away Monday morning, July 8, 2024, after a brief illness at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville Indiana.
Catherine was born the seventh child of eight to Joseph Otis Maloney and Lillian Jones Maloney. After the death of her father in 1927 she was raised by her loving uncle and aunt, Halleck and Clara Jones.
Catherine graduated from Ridgway High School in 1943 and moved to Alton Illinois where she met Lindell Hargrave. Catherine and Lindell married in 1946 and welcomed their son, Terry H Hargrave in 1947. Catherine and her family returned home to Omaha to farm and raise their family.
Catherine had been an active member of the community. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Norris City, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and served on the Gallatin County election board for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and foster parents. She is survived by her son Terry (Holly) Hargrave, three grandchildren - Brett, Ryan, and Kathryn, as well as five great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Catherine will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway, IL. Visitation will start at 11:00 AM until the time of service at 11:30 AM with Rev. Scott Webb officiating.
Family request no flowers or plants & in Lieu of Flowers, encourages a Memorial Contribution in Honor of Catherine be made to The American Heart Association.
