Catherine A. Miller 97 of Ravenna returned to the Lord Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Kentridge Assisted Living in Kent, Ohio. She was born May 5, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to Phillip and Catherine (Ward) Sheridan. She attended St. Nicholas High School until taking time off to care for her very ill mother. At a high school Halloween party Catherine met her sweetheart and future husband, Louis Miller. What was a chance encounter, turned into a love that would stay steadfast through many hardships and last a lifetime. In 1944, Catherine’s parents moved her and her five siblings to New York City. There Catherine resumed her education in the evenings at Washington Business School. She later found employment as a secretary for an import-export business while she continued to support her family. Despite the hardship and instability of war, Catherine and Louis strengthened their love with every letter they wrote from across the sea. In September of 1948 they were finally wed at Corpus Cristi Church in New York and began their new life together. Over the years with Louis, Catherine was a loving and devoted mother to nine children. She raised her family with patience and care while also teaching valuable lessons. In 1978 the family made a home in Ohio where Catherine resided until five weeks ago. Catherine was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she became active with the Young at Heart, the Ladies Guild, and the Infant of Prague. Her deep love empowered her to support Louis in his final months of life, providing him with quality care in their own home until he passed in 2010. She was known for making a room warm and inviting, and she touched the lives of many. Her smile and kindness will be remembered for many years to come. She will be greatly missed, but her loved ones take comfort in knowing she has reunited with the love of her life. Catherine wanted to leave to a special thank you to her granddaughter Kristen for all her devoted care and to the Millea family for their support over the years. Survivors include her children Louis (Elaine) Miller, Michael (Becky) Miller, Mary Ann (Don) Summers, Christopher (Shelia) Miller, Patricia Parsons, Jacqueline Miller, and son-in-law Jack Millea, 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis, daughters Kathleen Millea and Susan Miller and a son David Miller. Calling hours will be from 5 PM to 7 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Ravenna.
