Catherine Munson

Catherine "Cathi" Munson, 61, of Oneida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center surrounded by those who loved her most.
Cathi was born on March 20, 1964, in Galesburg, the daughter of Louis and Janet (Hand) Ingle, who survive her. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Cathi is also survived by her children: Heather (Dustin) Simmons of Oneida, Seanlier (Kathryn) Morrow of East Peoria, and Kianna (Colton) Lavely of Galesburg. She was a proud and loving Nana to her grandchildren: Gage (Cali) Simmons, Cole Simmons, Aylayna Simmons, Brittany Galaz, Landyn Morrow, Jordin Morrow, Kaydence Morrow, Julian Morrow, Camdon Lavely, Micah Lavely, and Roselee Lavely. Her great-grandchildren-Waylon, Wyatt, Augustus, Gracie Lynn, and Addie Lynn-brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her sisters: Debra Treadway of Peoria, Dixie Martinez of Oneida, Sara (Chris) Ingle of Galesburg, and Shelly Lytle of Macomb.
Cathi attended ROVA Schools and went on to study nursing at Carl Sandburg College. She dedicated more than 30 years of her life to caregiving, working as a CNA in long-term care. Her compassion and commitment touched many lives at Marigold, Rosewood, Galesburg Terrace, The Kensington, St. Mary's Square, and the DD Homes.
Outside of work, Cathi enjoyed crafting, reading, and baking-but nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with her family. She was a loving mom and Nana not just to her own, but to many others who were lucky enough to know her. Her doors and arms were always open.
Cathi was selfless and giving, always placing the needs of others before her own. Over the past two years, she devoted herself to caring for her mother as she battled Alzheimer's. Even in passing, Cathi continued to give, choosing to be an organ and tissue donor through the Gift of Hope. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Oneida. A celebration of life will immediately follow visitation at the Wataga Firehouse. Cremation rites will be accorded after visitation. Memorials may be made to the family.
